Information
Stems and leaflets with dense appressed fulvous hairs not covering leaf surface entirely and often appearing glabrous to the naked eye. Corolla size mostly at upper end of range.
Habitat
Locally common in high rainfall areas, at low to medium altitudes, climbing over shrubs and amongst tall grasses, in riverine and thicket vegetation, on evergreen forest margins and in Brachystegia–Uapaca woodland; also in Pinus and sisal plantations

Also recorded in SE Botswana by Hennessy (loc. cit.).The two subspecies are not well separated and some parts of the distribution are anomalous, e.g. the occurrence of a specimen, Plowes 2697, of undoubted subsp. coriacea at Chimanimani (Melsetter).
