Information
Shrub or subshrub, 0.1–3 m tall, from a tuberous rootstock, pubescent when young, glabrescent. Leaves 2–3-pinnate, pubescent when young, with 2 pairs of pinnae; leaflets 3–5 per pinna, oblong to obovate, 2.5–6 x 1.5–4.5 cm, rounded to emarginate at the apex, cuneate to subcordate at the base, glabrous or puberulous. Flowers red or yellowish, appearing when the plant is leafless; receptacle tubular 1.3–3 cm long. Sepals 0.9–1.2 cm long, pubescent at the apex. Petals 1.2–1.5 cm long. Ovary glabrous. Fruits 13.5–30 x 1.2–1.4(–2.1) cm. Seed-body 1–1.3 cm long, with 2–3 cm long wings.
