stem suffruticose, voluble, glabrous; leaves petioled, cordate-acuminate or hastate-triangular, denticulate, glabrous above, hispidulous beneath or glabrous, 5-nerved; corymbs trichotomous; invol.-scales oblong-linear, acuminate; achenes glabrous, thinly glandular; pappusrufous. A much branched climber, 20–30 f. long. Petioles 1–3 inches long. Leaves 2–3 inches long, 1 1/2–2 in. wide, taper-pointed. Invol. 3–3 1/2 lines long. Flowers pale or greenish. The leaves vary in shape and pubescence. This species scarcely differs from M. chenopodifolia, Willd.
