Information
quite glabrous, much-branched; leaves (small) on very short petioles, opposite, coriaceous, a little veined, elliptical or suborbiculate, with recurved margins; peduncles axillary, 1- flowered, solitary, geminate or ternate, about as long as the leaves, glabrous as well as the calyx; berry globose, usually 1-seeded. Shrub 4–6 feet high, with opposite or aggregated, greyish branches. Leaves pale green, 6–8 lines long, 5–6 lines broad, in var. β. 10–12 lines long, 8 lines broad. Petiole 1/2 line long, sulcate. Peduncles about 1/2 inch. Petals 2 lines, in var. β. 3 lines long, obovate.
Distribution
SOUTH AFRICA Sandy downs near the Bosjesmansriver, and between Zwartkops and Koega-river, E. & Z.! Zey.! 2466. Var. β. sandy hills between Omtendo and Omsamculo, Drege. Feb.-April. (Herb. D., Hk., Sd.)
