Annual or perennial herb to 0.5 m tall; young branches shortly tomentose. Leaves densely pubescent to tomentose, whitish beneath; petiole 5–25 mm long; stipules 2–6 mm long; blade lanceolate to narrowly ovate or narrowly oblong, 15–75 x 5–30 mm, subacute to truncate at the apex, with crenate to serrate margin. Flowers solitary or in 2–5-flowered tomentose cymes; peduncle 3–15 mm long; pedicels up to 10 mm long; epicalyx bracts 5–11 x 2–4 mm, lanceolate to narrowly ovate, tomentose. Sepals 6–10 x 2–3 mm, tomentose. Petals 5–8 mm long. Staminodes 3–6 mm long. Style c. 2 mm long. Capsule 5–7 mm long, subglobose, tomentose, with 2–3-seeded cells. Seeds c. 2 mm long, rough.
M. parviflora is very close to M. cannabina Wight from India and maybe even conspecific with this. In that case M. cannabina , being an older name, would have priority. Further studies are needed on this point.
