Mariscus oblonginux C. B. Clarke [family CYPERACEAE]
Information
Glabrous. Basal bulbs large, ovoid, in clusters. Stems 15 in. long, rather stout. Leaves 4–8 by 1/8 in. Inflorescence of one ovoid dense pale head, 1/2– 3/4 in. in diam.; bracts 3–4, lowest 1–2 in. long. Spikelets very numerous, perfecting 1 or 2 nuts. Flower-glume straw-coloured, 1/6 in. long, thin, ovate-oblong. Nut 1/10 in. long, oblong; style short, branches 3, very delicate.
