large; umbel compound, rays 8–12 up to 8 in. long; spikes dense, mostly short-peduncled; spikelets 1/2 in. long, maturing often 10 nuts; otherwise as M. tabularis, Schrad. null
Distribution
COAST REGION Uitenhage Div.; by the Zwartkops River, Burchell, 4431! Zeyher, 15! Komgha Div.; Flanagan, 977!EASTERN REGION Natal; near Durban, Wood, 4098! Buchanan, 130! and without precise locality, Gueinzius!
Notes
The umbel of this species much resembles large umbels of M. congestus; but M. Gueinzii (and the preceding species) have spongy leaves with transverse reticulations—remote from those of M. congestus.
