Notes
Lamaloshe (Som.). Kers (loc. cit.) proposed subspecific rank for M. socotrana within M. angolensis. Within this subspecies the populations in Somalia and Ethiopia are given varietal rank as var. africana Kers, whereas var. socotrana is confined to Socotra. In herbaria M. socotrana has often been called M. thomsonii T. Anders., but this is not correct (see under M. crassifolia).
