Glabrous annual or short-lived perennial, (6–)10–55 cm high, erect or ascending, becoming ± woody at base. Leaves often alternate, sessile or subsessile, linear to narrowly oblong-elliptic, 5–20 x 1–3 mm, glaucous. Flowers solitary, axillary, (4–)6-merous. Hypanthium cylindrical, 2.5–4.5 x 1.5–2 mm. Sepals less than 1 mm long, alternating with subulate sinus-appendages c. 1.5 mm long. Petals 4–6, oblanceolate, 2.5–3 x 0.8 mm, pink. Stamens usually 4–6, c. 2 mm long. Capsule cylindrical, 4–4.5 x 0.7 mm, dark brown. Seeds ovoid, c. 0.8 mm long, shortly winged at one end, brown.
