Information
Terrestrial with main stems creeping up to 1.5 m (but sometimes ± lacking), producing dichotomously branched erect stems 20–60(–80) cm tall at intervals of 5–10 cm. Leaves uniform, linear-lanceolate, 4–7 mm long, 0.5–0.75 mm wide, with a translucent hair-point 1.5–3 mm long at apex, spreading, suberect or imbricate, usually entire but some stem leaves may be ciliate; the apical hairs appear tufted at the ends of the young shoots and dry a characteristic orange-brown colour. Strobili cylindrical, 1–8 cm long, 4–6 mm wide, in groups of 2–6 (rarely solitary) at the apex of sparsely leafy branched peduncles 5–20 cm long, the stalks (secondary peduncles) (0–)0.5–5 cm long. Sporophylls broadly ovate, 3 mm long, 2 mm wide, acuminate into a long hair-point 1–2(–4) mm long, finely lacerate.
