suffruticose, pubescent; branches striate; leaflets and stipules similar, oblong-cuneate, submucronulate, glaucous above, paler beneath; peduncles axillary, elongate; umbels 4–8 flowered; bracts leaflike, unequal, the longest equalling the flowers; legumes straight, cylindrical, glabrous, locellate within; seeds ellipsoid-subglobose, smooth, dark brown. 1–2 feet high, slender, alternately branched, straggling, variably pubescent; the stems and branches pale, the foliage glaucous. Leaves an inch apart, with a pair of leaflike stipules longer than the petiole; leaflets 1/2– 3/4 inch long, 2 lines wide near the top, tapering to the base, obtuse or subacute, scarcely mucronulate, appressedly hispid on the lower surface. Peduncles 1 1/2–4 inches long, spreading. Flowers orange-yellow, the rostrate carina darker. Legumes 1 1/2 inch long, many seeded, with spongy septa between the seeds.
