Information
Branchlets slender, glabrous, pale brown, 1 lin. in diam. or less 1 ft. below the apex, older branches rather conspicuously lenticellate. Leaves opposite, ovate-lanceolate or lanceolate, acutely acuminate, obtuse or more or less rounded at the base, 1 1/2–3 1/4 in. long, 6–13 lin. broad, thinly coriaceous, glabrous; lateral nerves numerous, slightly raised on both surfaces; petiole 1 1/2–3 lin. long. Umbels solitary, 11–16-flowered; peduncle 2–2 1/2 lin. long; pedicels 1–2 lin. long; bract broadly elliptic from a saucer-shaped base, very concave, strongly umbonate, dorsal margin 5/8 lin. long, ventral margin patulous, 1/6 lin. long. Receptacle 3/4 lin. long. Calyx erect, 1/6– 1/4 lin. long, hardly lobed, ciliolate. Corolla brick-red, about 6 lin. long; tube cylindric, about 2 1/4 lin. long, 1/2– 5/8 lin. in diam., slightly split unilaterally, sparingly glandular inside; lobes erect, spathulate, slightly broadened into the base, 3 1/2–3 3/4 lin. long, nearly 1/2 lin. broad above. Filaments inserted 3/8– 1/2 lin. above the base of the corolla-lobes, tapering slightly upwards, 2 1/2 lin. long, tooth subulate from a broad base, 1/4– 1/3 lin. long; anthers elliptic-oblong, 1/2 lin. long or rather more; connective produced beyond the cells, rounded. Disc 3/8 lin. high, densely papillate. Berry red, obovoid, 3 lin. long, 1 1/2–2 lin. in diam.

Notes
Allied to L. Bagshawei, from which it differs in the obtuse or nearly rounded base of the leaf and the distinctly spathulate corolla-lobes.
