Information
Stems spreading to 1 m. or so; twigs tomentose, with stellate and ± dendritic somewhat fulvous hairs, glabrescent. Leaves opposite to subopposite, soon clustered on short shoots; petiole 0–9 mm. long; lamina elliptic or oblong-elliptic to ovate, (1–)2–5 cm. long, (0.8–)1.2–4 cm. wide, mostly rounded to cordate at the base, in very young leaves sometimes cuneate, densely stellate-pubescent to -tomentose on both surfaces, somewhat glabrescent to varying degrees, with ± 4 obscure pairs of lateral nerves. Heads mostly terminal from a tuft of 1–2 pairs of leaves, but also axillary on younger branches, (2–)4-flowered; peduncle 3–25(–30) mm. long; bract with a well-developed leafy elliptic-obovate to elliptic-circular limb, (10–)15–25 mm. long, (5–)8–20 mm. wide. Receptacle 1 mm. long, long-hairy; calyx 2–3 mm. long, silky villous. Corolla 3.5–5 cm. long, greenish, tube flushed yellowish to orange, densely silky villous except on lower part of basal swelling; basal swelling 4–5 mm. long; constriction 3–4 mm. long; funnel-shaped upper tube 7–9 mm. long. Berry with calyx 10 mm. long, pinkish red, pilose.
