stem slender, simple, short and suberect, or longer and sarmentose; leaves ovate or lanceolate or linear, cirrhiferous at the tip, central verticillate, upper opposite or alternate; flowers solitary from the axils of the upper leaves on slender, ebracteate, cernuous pedicels 1–2 in. long; perianth 3/4–1 1/4 in. long; segments oblong-lanceolate, acute; stamens and pistil about 1/2 in. long; capsule 1 1/2 in. long. null
