Information
rhizome stout, thickened at the nodes; leaves 3 or 4 in a fascicle, spreading, elongate-linear, acute or acuminate, 6–12 in. long, 1/2–1 in. broad, with about 5 slightly prominent veins, protected at the base by a few spathaceous imbricate sheaths; scapes lateral, erect, 2 1/2–4 ft. long, with several spathaceous sheaths below; racemes elongate, lax, many-flowered; bracts lanceolate or ovate-anceolate, acuminate, 1/4– 1/2 or rarely 3/4 in. long; pedicels 1/2–1 in. long; flowers medium-sized; sepals ovate-oblong, apiculate or shortly acuminate, reflexed, 1/4– 1/3 in. long, green; petals broadly ovate, subobtuse or apiculate, about 3/4 in. long, bright yellow; lip pandurate-oblong, about as long as the petals; side lobes auriculate or rounded, adnate to the base of the column, bright yellow; front lobe elliptic-oblong, obtuse; disc convex, with 5–7 fleshy somewhat crenulate keels; spur broadly conical, obtuse, about 1/6 in. long; column clavate, 1/4 in. long, its foot very short. null
