Information
Slender terrestrial herb 30–50 cm tall.Perennating organs mostly subterranean, pseudobulbous, c. 2–4 cm tall, 0.5–2.5 cm wide, conical, covered with dry sheaths, forming chains, drying yellow; roots 2.5–3.5 mm in diameter.Leaves 5–9 forming a fan, 12–20 cm × 3–10 mm, linear or linear-lanceolate, acute or acuminate, starting to develop at flowering time.Inflorescences 1–2, laxly few- to several-flowered; scape wiry with a sheathing bract in the lower half.Pedicel and ovary 13–25 mm long, slender, held at right angles to the rhachis; bracts 4–9 mm long, linear, acuminate.Sepals green-brown or yellow-green; petals whitish; lip white or greenish-white with a pale purple edge, purple-veined side lobes and lilac and white papillae on mid-lobe.Sepals erect, 12–16 × 1 mm, linear-oblanceolate, acute.Petals 8–8.5 × 1.5–2 mm, elliptic, acute, projecting over column.Lip 7–10 × 5–6 mm, 3-lobed; side lobes erect, rounded; mid-lobe deflexed, suborbicular to obovate, less than half of the total length of the lip; callus of 3 basal ridges with several lines of papillae on mid-lobe; spur 3–4 mm long, conical or cylindrical, at right angles to lip, straight or incurved.Column 4–5 mm long; foot 1 mm long.Capsule pendent, c. 20 mm long.

Notes
This species is distinguished from related woodland species by its long slender pedicel and ovary standing out horizontally from the rhachis, and the usually broader leaves.Eulophia sabulosa Schltr. has slightly larger flowers with a shorter pedicel, and the mid-lobe of the lip is more than half of the total length, while in E. seleensis (De Wild.) Butzin the mid-lobe is less than half of the total length.Should further study show the species to be synonymous, E. seleensis will be the correct name.
