stems 3–8 in. long, slender; leaves slender; heads of 1–5 spikelets; spikelets 1/6 by 1/12 in., squarrose; glumes obovate, dark chestnut, with a long, linear, yellow-green, recurved mucro; bracteoles hardly longer than the nut; style hardly any, branches 3 minute, linear; otherwise resembling very small examples of the preceding species. null
