Leaves glabrous; petiole 25–50 cm long, triangular in section; blade up to 25 x 20 cm in outline, sagittate. Peduncle about as long as petioles; lowest whorl of inflorescence with 6–10 bisexual flowers and 0–2 male flowers; pedicels 2–4 cm long, slender in male flowers, thickened and recurved in fruit. Outer tepals c. 6 x 3.5 mm in bisexual flowers, c. 4 x 2 mm in male flowers. Inner tepals larger than the outer, white. Nutlets 4 x 3 mm, ridged, pale brown.
Range
S1–3 widespread in tropical Africa, also Madagascar and southern Asia.
