Names
LIMEUM angustifolium Verdc. [family MOLLUGINACEAE], (1965);. type: N1, 8°27’N, 46°14’E, Hemming 2164 (EA holo. not seen; K iso.). Fig. 57.
Information
Shrublet to 30 cm high, glabrous except for leaf axils; stems erect or ascending, green, longitudinally striate, short shoots absent. Leaves alternate, linear, 7–30 x 1–2.5 mm, base slightly expanded with a few axillary hairs, tip acute to mucronate. Cyme terminal, laxly divaricate; bracts up to 3 mm long; pedicels 1–3 mm. Sepals ovate, 3–4.2 x 2.2 mm, mostly membranous, white with broad green midrib, tip acute. Petals obovate, up to 3.5 x 2.8 mm, tip acuminate, sometimes apparently absent. Stamens 6, 2 longer than rest, filaments 1.2–1.8 mm long, ± ovate with pilose margins; anthers c. 0.8 mm long. Mericarps pale brown, disc-shaped with ± conical ornamented central boss c. 6 mm wide and with wide, radially-veined wings 14 x 11 mm overall.
