Glabrous perennial herbs or subshrubs up to 40 cm. tall, woody at base, developing herbaceous shoots; stems erect or ascendent, sparingly branched, striate, minutely scaberulous or smooth. Leaves sessile to shortly petiolate, alternate to subopposite; lamina 5–27 × 1–4 mm., linear to lanceolate or oblanceolate, entire, midrib prominent below; petiole up to 3 mm. long, enlarged at base. Inflorescences mostly terminal, 15–100-flowered, umbelliform, pedunculate. Flowers whitish, small, with pedicels up to 2 mm. long and membranous whitish lanceolate bracteoles. Perianth-segments 5, 2–3 mm. long, slightly unequal, membranous, whitish, with greenish keel, broadly ovate, obtuse, slightly mucronate. Staminodes 0–5, shorter than the perianth-segments, evanescent, with long claw and ovate limb. Stamens (5)7, with filaments much broadened and fimbriate below. Ovary 2-lobed, glabrous. Mericarps 2–3 mm. in diameter, pitted and furrowed, sometimes very shortly tuberculate, not auriculate at base.
