Information
Slender perennial with long straggling wiry rhizomes bearing tufts of leafy branches at the nodes, up to 60 cm high; leaves narrowly lanceolate, acute, widely diverging or deflexed. Inflorescence 6–25 cm long, composed of numerous very slender, straight or slightly flexuous racemes, each 2–5 cm long, scattered along the main axis and bearing clearly secund spikelets. Spikelets 1.6–2.4 mm long, 1-flowered, laterally compressed; glumes subequal, as long as the spikelet, only slightly exceeding the floret, if at all; lemma keeled, minutely hairy on the nerves, entire, acute. Caryopsis not known.
