Information
Small or medium-sized evergreen tree 5–20 m. tall, sometimes flowering as a shrub; bole fluted; bark smooth, grey. Leaves imparipinnate; petiole and rhachis up to 23 cm., long, densely stellate-pubescent; leaflets very variable in shape and size, up to 15 × 6 cm., usually much smaller, opposite or alternate, 3–4-jugate, distal leaflets more or less elliptic, apex acute to shortly acuminate, base markedly asymmetric, upper surface drying pale yellow-green, lower surface puberulous with small stellate hairs and minute red and black glands; petiolules up to 1 cm. long. Flowers creamy-white, becoming darker yellow with age, fragrant, in contracted cymose panicles in leaf-axils; peduncles up to 10 cm. long; pedicels 1–2·5 mm. long. Calyx 2 mm. long, cupuliform, with minute teeth, scurfy-stellate-pubescent. Petals 4–5 mm. long, densely puberulous outside. Filaments 3–4 mm. long, puberulous at the base outside, sparsely villous in the upper half inside. Style 1·5–2 mm. long. Fruit small, up to 1·5 × 1 cm., encrusted with stellate scales, 2–3-locular, with 1 dark brown or black exarillate seed in each loculus.

Notes
This species has been collected in the Mafinga Mts. very near the N. Rhodesian border and almost certainly occurs on the Rhodesian side.
