Notes
Meisner (in DC. Prodr. xiv. 596) has described three varieties, viz., pubescens, glabratus and angustifolius, which cannot be maintained owing to the impossibility of defining them by constant characters, as pointed out by Pearson, l.c. Bolus, 8246, has densely hairy and quite glabrous leaves in the same gathering. The species is polymorphic to a high degree.
