Information
Shrubs or trees 2–6 m. tall. Older twigs glabrate, fuscous; younger twigs sparsely and shortly pilose. Leaf-blades narrowly elliptic to oblong-lanceolate (rarely nearly ovate), 9–14(–17) cm. long, 3–5(–6) cm. wide, cuneate, acute or obtuse, acuminate, crenate-serrulate to sharply serrulate, firm, glabrous except on the major nerves beneath, on each side of midrib with 7–9 secondary nerves which are prominulent beneath; petioles 3–9 mm. long, pubescent ventrally. Stipules 5–9 mm. long, subulate, pubescent, caducous. Inflorescences short, with (3–)6–15 flowers, umbel-like; peduncles 3–4 mm. long; pedicels 3–7 mm. long at anthesis, later 10–15 mm. long. Cup externally minutely pubescent. Sepals ± 2 mm. long, dorsally minutely pubescent. Petals broadly oblanceolate, 1.2–1.5 mm. long, whitish. Disk ± 2 mm. broad. Style ± 1 mm. long, 3-partite about half the length. Fruit nearly globose, 8–9 mm. thick, minutely and densely pubescent.
