Information
A little-branched undershrub. Stems without any prickles, hairy upwards. Leaves in threes, shortly petioled, ovate or oblong, faintly crenate, 3–4 in. long, slightly scabrous above, very slightly rugose, thinly pubescent beneath. Spikes solitary from the axil of each leaf, shortly peduncled, at first globose, finally oblong: bracts green, ovate, acute, hairy, the lower 1/4 in. long. Corolla pink or lilac, with a yellow eye; tube 1/4 in. long; limb 1/4 in. diam. Drupe purple.
Range
A native of Tropical America, also naturalised in Tropical Asia.
