Notes
[The following specimens should probably be assigned to this species though differing somewhat in their rather larger, paler (pink or mauve) flowers and in their smaller floral bracts: Ghana: Assuantsi Road (fl. & fr. Jan.) Fishlock 27! Adaiso (fl. & fr. Nov.) Morton 6147! Amedzofe (fl. Nov.) Morton GC 9383! N. Nig.: Jos Plateau (July) Lely P358! Pankshin (fl. & fr. July) Lely 431! S. Nig.: Shaki, Oyo (fl. & fr. Nov.) Olorunfemi FHI 40306! [Br.] Cam.: Vogel Peak, Adamawa (fl. & fr. Dec.) Hepper 1536! Hybrids occur in the genus, and it is just possible that some of these aberrant specimens may be of hybrid origin, a possibility which should be borne in mind by collectors-R.D.M.]
