LAGGERA oblonga O. & H. [family COMPOSITAE]
Information
Shrubby. Branches subterete, continuously alate. Leaves alternate, oblong or elliptic-oblong, obtuse, mucronate or apiculate, denticulate, scabrid on both surfaces, with prominent venation beneath, decurrent with rather broad entire wings, 1 1/2 in. long, 1/2 in. broad. Capitula broadly campanulate, at length hemispherical, 1–1 1/4 in. diam., subsessile, solitary or 2–3 together, terminating short lateral alate branchlets. Scales of involucre multiseriate, puberulous; inner linear, acuminate; outer much shorter, linear-lanceolate, acute with recurved tips. Receptacle naked, 1/3– 1/2 in. diam. Ray-florets filiform; mouth minutely dentate. Disk-florets … Achenes pilose, with erect hairs.
