bulb globose, 1 in. diam.; peduncle, including inflorescence, 1/2–1 ft. long, more robust than in the two next species; leaves 2, rarely 1, lorate-lanceolate, thin, 1/2–1 ft. long, 1 1/2–2 in. broad at the middle; raceme few- or many-flowered, 2–6 in. long, all except the upper flowers more or less cernuous; pedicels very short; bracts small, deltoid; perianth cylindrical, 1 1/4–1 1/2 in. long, 1/4– 1/3 in. diam.; outer segments linear-oblong, yellow passing upwards into red, not spotted; inner but little longer, bright red-purple at the truncate tip, 1/4 in. broad; stamens reaching the tip of the perianth; style finally just exserted. null
