a very much branched shrub, 6–7 ft. high; branchlets glabrous, spiny; leaves fascicled, ovate- or oblong-elliptic, obtuse or subacute, acute at the base, 3 lin. long, 1 lin. wide, entire, rather thick, glabrous; flowers solitary; peduncle filiform, thickened at the apex, 1/2–1 lin. long; calyx cupshaped, glabrous, 1 lin. long; teeth 4, short, triangular; corolla white, 3–4 lin. long; tube obconic; lobes 4, orbicular, reflexed; stamens 4, inserted halfway up the corolla-tube; filaments hairy at the base, exserted; ovary subglobose; style as long as the stamens; fruit subglobose. null
