branches terete, shortly pubescent or glabrous; leaves subequal in both sexes, 4–7 lin. long, 2–3 1/4 lin. broad, oblanceolate or spathulate-obovate, rounded into a very obtuse mucro at the apex, rigidly or thickly coriaceous, glabrous; male inflorescences solitary and terminal, scarcely 3/4 in. in diam., subdepressed-globose; bracts 1 lin. long, lanceolate, subobtuse; perianth-tube 1 1/4 lin. long, tubular, pilose above, glabrous below; segments 2 lin. long, spathulate-linear, adpressed-pilose; limb 2/3 lin. long, oblong, subacute, pubescent; anthers 1/2 lin. long, linear; style 2 1/2 lin. long, cylindric, with very long hairs at the base; stigma 1/3 lin. long, ellipsoid, subacute; hypogynous scales 1 1/2 lin. long, filiform; female inflorescences similar to the male but nearly hidden by the upper leaves; bracts 2 lin. long, ovate, acuminate, villous, ciliate; perianth-segments 3 1/4 lin. long, spathulate-linear, villous above, glabrous below; limb 1/2 lin. long, oblong, obtuse or subobtuse, villous; staminodes 1/3 lin. long, linear; hypogynous scales 1 1/4 lin. long, linear, long-acuminate, acute; style 2 1/3 lin. long, linear, glabrous, inserted laterally; stigma oblique; ovary 1/2 lin. long, compressed, winged, produced above into 2 flat membranous horns. null
