Information
A low tree or shrub of 8–10 ft. Leaves obovate or nearly oval, acuminate, wedge-shaped at base into the petiole, glabrate above, puberulous on the midrib veins and veinlets beneath or obsoletely so, with 7–9 veins on each side of the midrib; 3–8 by 1 1/2–4 1/4 in.; petiole 1/3–1 2/3 in.; upper internodes short; stipules ovate-oblong, 1/2 in. long. Bracts opposite, elliptical, narrowed at both ends, 2 1/4 by 5/8 in., on stalks of 1 in. Inflorescence 3 1/2–7 in long, dense (in the type). Calyx-lobes linear-lanceolate, 1/15 in. long. Corolla 1/5 in. long. Capsule 1/3– 1/2 by 1/5– 1/4 in., on stalks of 1/8– 1/5 in.
