Information
Annual herb up to c. 70 cm tall; stems 4-ribbed, glabrous or with minutely scabrid ribs. Leaves linear to linear-lanceolate, 15–68 x 1–6 mm, acute, minutely scabrid; stipule sheath 1.2–2 mm long, with c. 4 unequal up to 5 mm long fimbriae. Flowers in lax pedunculate cymes; pedicels 2.5–15(–33) mm long. Calyx-lobes narrowly lanceolate, mostly 3–4 mm long, with minutely scabrid margins. Corolla scarlet; tube 8–12 mm long, densely hairy in throat; lobes 4.5–9 mm long. Style c. 3.5 mm long; stigma not divided into lobes. Capsules mostly 2–2.5 x 4–4.8 mm, glabrous. Seeds blackish, c. 0.4 mm long.
