The Somali material consists of small annual plants with calyx-lobes c. 1.5 mm long and corolla-lobes 2–2.5 mm long and best agrees with var. effusa (Oliv.) Verdc. Ciferri 47 bis from S2 (Genale) may also belong here. It was cited as Oldenlandia retrorsa Boiss.(= K. retrorsa (Boiss.)Bremek.) by Chiov., Fl. Somala 3: 134 (1936).
