Notes
I have been unable to satisfactorily separate K. effusa at specific level; there is great variation in the width of the leaves and size of the corolla-limb, and narrow-leaved specimens do not always have flowers as small as the dimensions given by Bremekamp. The variability is particularly evident in the many specimens collected by Milne-Redhead & Taylor in the Songea District (T8). As Bremekamp points out, the type of var. effusa is a lax and weak specimen grown in a wet place. (on species as a whole). Apart from the varieties mentioned above, Bremekamp also records his var. psilogyna from Tanzania, Dar es Salaam (Stuhlmann 7775 in part). Var. psilogyna is based on Mozambique, Moribane, Dawe 490 (K, holo.!) and differs from var. vestita in having the ovary glabrous.
