Information
Spreading shrubby herb to 1 m high; stems and leaves rough, like sand-paper, tending to stick by the barbed hairs; stems whitish. Petioles 2–6.5 cm long; leaf-blade ovate, up to 4–10 x 3–10 cm, base cordate, tip rounded, obscurely pinnately lobed, coarsely dentate. Cymes up to 15 cm long; bracts lanceolate, up to c. 1.5 cm long; pedicels 3–4 mm long. Calyx-tube/ovary c. 5 mm long, very densely pilose, lobes oblanceolate, c. 15–17 x 4–5 mm at anthesis, tip rounded. Petals elliptic, 7–9 x c. 4 mm, white. Stamens exserted by c. 4 mm; petaloid scales with narrowly oblong 3-lobed/partite tip. Fruits erect, prominently ribbed, 9–11 x 4–5 mm, with persistent stiff sepals accrescent to 29–32 x 7–8 mm. Seeds c. 7 mm long, difficult to extract.
