Information
Shrublet or shrub to 1.2 m tall; young stems appressed puberulous, glabrescent; old stems sometimes with thick corky ridges. Leaves alternate or the upper opposite, 2–4.5 cm long; leaflets 2–4 pairs, obliquely oblong to obovate-elliptic, 7–20 x 3–15 mm, puberulous with minute appressed hairs; stipules narrowly triangular to linear, up to c. 3 mm long. Pedicel 10–25(–40) mm long. Sepals lanceolate, 7–12 mm long, finely appressed pubescent. Petals brick red to orange or golden yellow, 12–28 mm long. Stamens with filaments 6–8 mm long. Ovary sparsely pilose with hairs c. 1.5 mm long; style 5–10 mm long; stigma capitate. Fruit glabrous with a few scattered hairs; mericarps 7–8 mm long, with a somewhat reticulately wrinkled surface, without or sometimes with a pair of short horns.
