Erect annual or perennial herb up to 1.5 m tall, lower parts glabrous, upper parts densely glandular-pubescent; stems usually 4-angled towards base. Leaves sessile, lanceolate to oblong-ovate, up to 15(–30) x 6(–9) cm, never glaucous, obtuse to acute at the apex, decurrent at the base, entire to bluntly serrate or crenate at the margin. Pedicels 1–3(–10) mm long. Calyx-lobes ovate to oblong-elliptic, 2.5–13 mm long, united for 1–8(–11) mm. Corolla yellow or orange, rarely pinkish; tube 8–15 mm long; lobes 2.6–6.5 mm long, rounded with mucro up to 0.7 mm long. Anthers included. Follicles (5–)6–9 mm long; styles 0.5–1(–1.5) mm long.
