Information
glabrous; stem robust, leafy; leaves oblongo-spathulate, obtuse, tapering at base, sessile, very entire; cymes short-stalked, combined into a compact, oblong panicle or thyrsus; bracts minute; pedicels equalling or exceeding the corolla; sepals ovate or ovato-lanceolate; lobes of the corolla ovate, obtuse. Stem 2 1/2–4 feet high, simple, leafy throughout, the upper leaves equalling or exceeding the internodes. Leaves pale green, 4–6 inches long or perhaps longer, the cuneate base half-amplexicaul. Thyrsus 9–12 inches long, cylindrical, densely many flowered. Corolla orange. Quite distinct in inflorescence and the obtuse corolla-lobes from other S. African species. E. & Z. refer it to K. alternans, Pers., but it hardly agrees with the character given of that species.
