JASMINUM meyeri-johannis Engl. [family OLEACEAE], -(1892).
Information
Shrub, up to 2 m or more tall, usually scandent; young stems glabrous or puberulous. Leaves opposite, simple; petiole 3–10 mm long, articulated below the middle, sometimes with a line of pubescence on the upper surface; blade elliptic to ovate, 2–8 x 1.5–4 cm, rounded to cuneate at the base, obtuse to shortly acuminate at the apex, tough, glossy, glabrous, without acarodomatia. Flowers terminal on short lateral branches, solitary or in up to 11-flowered cymes; pedicels 3–12 mm long. Calyx glabrous; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 5–7, 2–10 mm long, subulate. Corolla white inside, pink or pale green outside; tube 19–33 mm long; lobes 7–11, 10–24 mm long, linear to narrowly elliptic, acute to acuminate at the apex. Stamens inserted in the upper half of corolla-tube; anthers 3.5–5 mm long. Fruit with lobes 10–14 mm long when dry, ellipsoid.

Notes
First record for Somalia. The single collection seen originates from 17 km W of “Badada” on “Kolbio” road at 1°04´S, 41°22´E, where the species was said to be frequent.
