Shrub, up to several m tall, often scandent; young stems glabrous to finely hairy. Leaves opposite, 3–11-foliolate, glabrous or sometimes finely hairy; petiole 5–20 mm long; lateral leaflets ovate-elliptic, (0.5–)1.5–2(–3.5) x (0.3–)0.6–1.2(–2) cm, rounded to cuneate at the base, acute to rounded at the apex, the terminal leaflet ovate to lanceolate, (1–)1.5–3(–5) x (0.4–)0.7–1.8(–2.2) cm, attenuate to cuneate at the base, acute, acuminate or rounded at the apex, without acarodomatia. Flowers in (3–)5–many-flowered cymes; pedicels 3–20 mm long. Calyx glabrous; tube 1.5–2 mm long; lobes 5, 3–8(–10) mm long, filiform. Corolla white, usually tinged with red outside; tube 15–22 mm long; lobes 4–6, 8–17 mm long, lanceolate to ovate, acute to rounded and apiculate at the apex. Stamens inserted in the middle of the corolla-tube; anthers 5–5.5 mm long. Fruit with lobes c. 10 mm long when dry, ellipsoid.
