The following named forms differ from the type only in flower-colouring, viz.: M. purpurea, Klatt, Ergänz. 49 (Ixia columnaris, Andr. Bot. Rep. t. 203), limb concolorous, claret-red, with narrow segments; M. latifolia, Klatt, Ergänz. 51 (Andr. Bot. Rep. t. 213; Galaxia ixiæflora vel ramosa, Red. Lil. t. 41), blue with a brownish throat; M. versicolor, Klatt, Ergänz. 51 (Andr. Bot. Rep. t. 211), pale yellow, with a large black spot with radiating reddish lines; M. curta, Klatt, Ergänz. 50 (Ixia curta, Andr. Bot. Rep. t. 564; I. monadelpha, var. curta, Ker, Bot. Mag. t. 1378), limb fulvous, with a reddish-green throat, and large flowers with very broad segments. M. grandiflora, Klatt, Ergänz. 49 (Bot. Rep. t. 250; Ixia grandiflora, Pers. Syn. i. 48) is a large-flowered form with a lilac limb with an obscure blue throat.
