Information
Rambling perennial, rooting at the nodes. Leaf-blades flat, 5–20 cm. long, 3–15 mm. wide, acuminate to a fine pungent tip. Raceme 4–11 cm. long. Sessile spikelet 5–8 mm. long; lower glume narrowly lanceolate, bearing scattered setae on the keels, acute; upper glume narrowly oblong, truncate; upper lemma bifid for 3/4 its length, with an inconspicuous awn 8–15 mm. long. Pedicelled spikelet narrowly oblong, 6–10 mm. long, purplish, truncate, the lower glume broadly winged on one side, the upper glume winged from the keel near the top. Fig. 177.
