Information
Perennial twiner; stems rather woody, up to several m long, pubescent. Leaf-blades ovate, 5–17 x 4–14 cm, cordate at the base, acuminate at the apex, entire or rarely 3-lobed, glabrous to pubescent; petiole up to 12 cm long. Cymes few–many-flowered; peduncle 2–16 cm long; pedicels up to 1.5 cm long; bracts lanceolate to ovate, c. 3 mm long. Sepals ovate, 6–8 x 5–8 mm, pilose. Corolla purple, 3–4.5 cm long, funnel-shaped. Capsule globose, 10–13 mm in diam., glabrous. Seeds ovoid, c. 5 mm long, densely covered with c. 2.5–4 mm long hairs.
Range
S3 widespread in tropical Africa, Madagascar, and in tropical Asia and South America.
