Notes
Three varieties were recognized by Verdcourt in Fl. Trop. E. Afr. (1963), and of these var. pes-tigridis was said to occur in northern Somalia and var. longibracteata Vatke in southern Somalia. I have only seen material of I. pes-tigridis from southernmost Somalia, and it agrees well with var. pes-tigridis.
