Sepals c. 6 x 2–3 mm in flower, 7–10 x 5–8 mm in fruit. Corolla usually pink or mauve with dark centre, c. 1.3 cm long. Capsule 5–6 mm in diam.

Baragis, barajis (Som.).The fruits are edible. Subsp. sinensis, with larger sepals, occurs in Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, and through tropical Asia eastwards to Taiwan. Some of the Somali material is intermediate.
