Information
Shrublet 0.3–1.2 m high, once described as straggling; stems glabrous. Leaves strongly aromatic, elliptic or obovate, petiole 2–8 mm long, blade 0.5–4 x 0.4–3 cm, base cuneate to attenuate, margins spiny-dentate, the teeth gland-tipped, apex obtuse or spiny-dentate, glabrous but for a few glandular hairs near the base. Capitula solitary on branchlets, forming lax leafy corymbs; involucre 4–8 mm long; phyllaries whitish with green midrib, lanceolate, 2–8 mm long, margins membranous and slightly erose to ciliate, acute, glabrous. Florets reddish violet or purple, 10–15, 7–7.7 mm long. Achenes cylindric, 2–2.4 mm long, villous, glandular; pappus 7.5–8.5 mm long.
