Information
Biramous hairs of stems and leaves appressed. Multicellular hairs sometimes restricted to the fruit only, but usually also present on stems, leaf-rhachis and inflorescence, those on the fruit always pale in colour. Petiole short or long; leaflets 7–11. Stamens 5–6 mm. long, up to twice as long as calyx. Pods usually 4–6-seeded, usually over 10 mm. long. Fig. 42/1–13, p. 281.

Altitude range
1000–3200 m. ~ This form of the species reaches to as high altitudes as any species of Indigofera in Africa.

Specimens usually found at rather lower altitudes with copious rather long multicellular hairs and longer petioles (I. alboglandulosa and I. setosissima var. major) differ conspicuously from higher altitude plants with few or no multicellular hairs except on the pods and short petioles. However, the difference appears to be partly one of age, young vigorous plants having the former appearance and old battered plants the latter, and intermediates are so numerous that it seems no longer advisable to treat subsp. alboglandulosa as distinct from subsp. atriceps.
