Information
Erect woody herb 1–2 m. tall, often subscandent and then up to 5 m.; indumentum finely or, on the lower leaf-surface, coarsely strigose, never very dense; stems ridged. Stipules subulate-setaceous, 2–5 mm. long; petiole 7–15 mm. long; rhachis prolonged up to 10 mm. beyond the lateral leaflets; stipellae filiform, minute; leaflets 3, ± elliptic, apiculate, up to 3 cm. long and 17 mm. wide. Racemes many-flowered, up to 27 cm. long, including a peduncle of up to 3 cm.; bracts linear-lanceolate, ± 2 mm. long, caducous; pedicels up to 1.5 mm. long, strongly reflexed in fruit. Calyx 2.5–4 mm. long; lobes subulate-setaceous, much longer than the tube. Corolla white strigose outside. Stamens ± 4 mm. long. Fruit pointed, almost straight or gently curved throughout its length, ± tetragonal, sometimes slightly torulose, 2–2.5 cm. long, ±1.3 mm. wide and 2 mm. thick, white strigulose; endocarp not spotted. Seeds ±10, cylindrical or tetragonal, rounded at the ends, ± twice as long as wide.

Altitude range
0–2200 m., but rare above 1700 m.
