Loosely caespitose annual; culms up to 12(17) cm tall, erect or geniculately ascending, very slender, usually branched from the lower nodes; leaf laminas 0.6–1.5 cm × (1)2–5 mm, linear-lanceolate, flat, becoming involute when dry, abruptly contracted at the base, acute at the apex.Panicle 2.5–3 cm long, obovate, the branches spreading or suberect, filiform and flexuous, the spikelets often secund.Spikelets 1.2–1.4 mm long, lanceolate; glumes subequal, as long as the spikelet, linear to narrowly ovate, acute at the apex; lemma 0.7–0.8(1) mm long, narrowly ovate, ciliate on the margins above; awn 3.5–6(7.5) mm long.
