Information
Shrubby herb or slender shrub, up to c. 1 m tall; stems densely hispid with brownish hairs. Leaves hispid; petiole 10–35 mm long; blade narrowly to broadly ovate or suborbicular, up to c. 4 x 4 cm, subacute to rounded at the apex, with serrate-dentate margins, often shallowly 3-lobed. Flowers in leaf axils; pedicels 15–50 mm long, articulated in upper part, hispid with brownish hairs. Epicalyx bracts 9–10, c. 4–6 mm long, subulate. Calyx 5–6 mm long, hispid with brownish hairs; lobes narrowly triangular, 1-nerved. Petals 10–15 mm long, bright red, with stellate hairs. Staminal tube c. 8–10 mm long, curved. Capsule subglobose, 8–10 mm long, appressed puberulous. Seeds with cottony floss.
